According to the label it was made in1970 -by the Suzuki Violin Co. It was bought that year in a closing down sale of a shop in Cockburn street Edinburgh. My original and first mandolin – bowlback – every I day I stared in the window, mesmerised, and watched the price going down 15, 12, 10 pounds ……………
thankfully my kind mother gave me the money –
what a gift – how kind…..
I was propelled forward after hearing Chorda at the Triangle Folk Club which was introduced to me by David Moncur
I never looked back and am still travelling on this wonderful journey – full of surprises
I think it has lovely fretwork and inlay – I love the colour and patina -Sadly, it has a small dent in the back -it’s a long story in Dalrymple Hall of residence, Glasgow.
I need to post the only surviving picture of me, Billy Cranston and John Cunningham (Homebrew) taken by Derek Albiston on top of Arthur’s seat as a publicity photo.
I am glad it is in black and white as I am ashamed of the colour spectrum I was wearing at the time!
